He was on the USS Coral Sea, he and his squadron were returning from their run from Cubic Point to the Coral Sea. He was flagged off the Caral Sea, heading to Danang. I have been looking for more information, due to I was only 10 years old when his plane went down and he was MIA and a fews days later he was KIA. Cmdr Skeen and his copilot body was never found. Message is: About August 1967 two American sailors some how ended up coming out on operations with 161 Bty (NZ Gunners)in the province of Phouc Tuy. They were on shore leave and attached them selves to my unit. They were with us out on ops for about 3 or four days until the American Navy tracked them down. They were picked up by chopper and returned to the navy. I spoke to them before they lifted off and they told me they would be in deep trouble, but they had no regrets and stated that they would not have missed the experince for anything. Skeen's hometown of Riverside (Rubidoux) will be honoring him by putting his name on the Veterans Memorial Wall here in town. He is on the Veterans Memorial Wall in D.C. Cdrm. Skeen was a great man.
